Veteran Activist Tapan Bose Passes Away

On 30th January 2025, Tapan Bose, a prominent activist known for his commitment to peace and human rights, passed away at his residence in Delhi.
- Tapan Bose, a lifelong activist, championed peace and dialogue in conflict zones, including Kashmir, Balochistan, and Naxal-affected areas.
- He played a significant role in advocating for justice following the Godhra carnage and the Gujarat riots of 2002, as well as the Babri Masjid demolition.
- Bose was a trusted ally of marginalized communities and his friendships spanned regions like Burma, Tamil Nadu in Sri Lanka, and the Naga areas.
- As a prolific documentary filmmaker, Bose’s works shed light on pressing issues, including the Bhopal gas tragedy, Jharkhand, and the victims of the Bhagalpur blindings.
- He was deeply involved in human rights research, particularly documenting Punjab disappearances during the 1980s and 1990s.
- Bose played a pivotal role in facilitating peace initiatives in Kashmir and was a key figure in the Indo-Naga peace process.
