On 27th January 2025, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was honored as the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year for 2024, following a stellar comeback and a record-breaking year in Test cricket.

  • Bumrah, returning from a back injury, topped the Test wicket charts in 2024 with 71 wickets at an average of 14.92 and a strike rate of 30.1.
  • His tally surpassed England’s Gus Atkinson, who finished second with 52 wickets.
  • Key performances included 19 wickets in India’s 4-1 series win over England and 32 wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, where he earned Player of the Series honors.
  • Bumrah became the fourth Indian bowler to take over 70 Test wickets in a calendar year, joining legends Ashwin, Kumble, and Kapil Dev.
  • He also crossed the 200 Test wickets milestones, becoming the 12th Indian to achieve this feat.
