On 26th January 2025, Dr. KM Cherian, an iconic cardiologist who revolutionized heart surgery in India, passed away at the age of 82 in Bengaluru after collapsing at a wedding.

Dr. KM Cherian, a pioneer in cardiac surgery, passed away at 82, leaving behind a legacy of groundbreaking contributions to medicine.
He was widely known for performing India's first heart-lung transplant and setting up the Frontier Lifeline Hospital and Frontier Mediville in Chennai.
Cherian's compassionate approach to pediatric care, especially his efforts to address the fear psychosis of children and parents, earned him widespread admiration.
He completed his medical education at Kasturba Gandhi Hospital, Manipal, and furthered his expertise in cardiac surgery in Australia and New Zealand.
Dr. Cherian served as the honorary cardiac surgeon to the President of India and treated patients from around the globe, making a lasting impact on global healthcare.
