New Guidelines for Men’s Cricket Team
- 17 Jan 2025
In January 2025, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) rolled out a new set of guidelines aimed at improving discipline, logistics, and team cohesion for the senior men’s cricket team during both domestic and international tours.
- The BCCI mandates that players travel with the team for all matches and practice sessions to maintain discipline and team unity, discouraging separate travel arrangements for families without prior approval from the head coach and chairman of the selection committee.
- The BCCI has set clear baggage limits for players and support staff, with players allowed up to five pieces of luggage (150 kg) for overseas tours exceeding 30 days, and support staff permitted to bring up to 80 kg, with costs for excess baggage to be borne by individuals.
- Family visits are allowed for players on overseas tours lasting over 45 days, with partners and children (under 18) allowed joining once per series for up to two weeks, with shared accommodation costs covered by the BCCI.
- Players must remain with the team until the official end of a series or tour, even if matches conclude earlier than expected, to strengthen team bonding and maintain consistent dynamics.
