MHA Approves Two New CISF Battalions

On 14th January 2025, the Ministry of Home Affairs sanctioned the formation of two new battalions for the Central Industrial Security Force to enhance national security and strengthen the force’s capacity.
- The two new battalions will each consist of 1,025 personnel, increasing the total number of CISF battalions from 13 to 15 and creating over 2,000 new jobs.
- These additional battalions will play a key role in bolstering the CISF’s ability to manage critical infrastructure, including high-security jails, industrial sites, and government buildings.
- The newly expanded force will improve rapid-response capabilities, ensuring faster deployment to address security emergencies and other critical situations across the nation.
- The CISF will also include a Mahila Battalion, aiming to enhance security operations while offering more employment opportunities for women.
- With the expansion, the CISF’s strength will increase to nearly 200,000 personnel, reinforcing its role in protecting vital infrastructure such as airports, nuclear establishments, and historical monuments.
