Army Day

On 15th January 2025, India celebrated Army Day to honour the sacrifices and dedication of the armed forces.

• The day marks General (later Field Marshal) KM Cariappa’s assumption of command as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in 1949.
• Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended greetings to Army personnel and their families, acknowledging their courage and commitment.
• He praised the Indian Army for its global recognition as one of the finest forces and saluted the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation.
