Easterine Kire Wins Sahitya Akademi Award

In December, 2024, renowned author Easterine Kire from Nagaland has been awarded the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award 2024 for her novel Spirit Nights.

Easterine Kire’s award-winning novel, Spirit Nights, published by Simon & Schuster India, draws inspiration from a story of darkness narrated by the Chang Naga tribe.
The Sahitya Akademi announced its annual awards in 21 languages, recognizing exemplary literary contributions across India.
Alongside Kire, Sameer Tanti won for his Assamese novel Pharingbore Bator Katha Jane, while Haobam Satyabati Devi’s Manipuri poetry work Mainu Bora Nungshi Sheirol also received accolades.
Aron Raja received the award for his Bodo novel Swrni Thakhai, highlighting literary achievements from the North East region.
Each awardee will be honored with a copper plaque, a ceremonial shawl, and a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh during the ceremony scheduled for March 8, 2025, in Delhi.
