Nepal Reappoints Ambassadors to India, Malaysia

On 18th December, 2024, Nepal’s President Ramchandra Paudel reappointed Dr. Shankar Prasad Sharma as the Resident Ambassador to India and named Dr. Netra Prasad Timsina as the Resident Ambassador to Malaysia.
- Dr. Shankar Prasad Sharma’s reappointment as Ambassador to India follows his notable tenure in the same position from March 2022 to July 2024.
- Dr. Sharma is an accomplished economist and diplomat with a previous role as Nepal’s Ambassador to the United States from 2009 to 2014.
- In addition to his diplomatic roles, Dr. Sharma served as Vice-Chairman of Nepal's National Planning Commission from 2002 to 2006.
- Dr. Netra Prasad Timsina has been appointed as the Resident Ambassador to Malaysia, further strengthening Nepal’s diplomatic outreach in Asia.
- These appointments were made under Article 282 (1) of Nepal’s Constitution, based on the recommendations from the Council of Ministers.
