PM Honoured by Guyana and Dominica

On 20th November 2024, on his three-nation visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the highest national awards by Guyana and Dominica, recognizing his efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic and his contributions to global diplomacy.

  • Prime Minister received ‘The Order of Excellence’ from Guyanese President Irfaan Ali for his exceptional global service and efforts to strengthen India-Guyana ties, marking the first time Guyana has awarded this honour to a foreign leader.
  • PM dedicated the ‘Order of Excellence’ to the people of India, highlighting the deep historical ties between the two nations and reaffirming India’s commitment to furthering their relationship.
  • In a separate ceremony, PM was also awarded the ‘Dominica Award of Honour’ for his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and his role in enhancing India-Dominica relations, becoming the fourth foreign leader to receive this honor.
  • The awards reflect the shared values between India and these Caribbean nations, including resilience, democracy, and commitment to global collaboration, particularly in addressing climate change and sustainable development.
