India Conducts 'Sanyukt Vimochan 2024' HADR Exercise

On 18-19th November 2024, the Indian Army successfully conducted the ‘Sanyukt Vimochan 2024’ exercise, showcasing its disaster preparedness and response capabilities, with participation from both national and international agencies.

  • The exercise took place in Ahmedabad and Porbandar, Gujarat, and was led by the Konark Corps of Southern Command of the Indian Army.
  • The first day featured a Table Top Exercise focused on managing a cyclone disaster scenario in Gujarat, with key agencies like NDMA, GSDMA, and FICCI participating alongside armed forces officials.
  • On the second day, a Multi-Agency Capability Demonstration at Chowpatty Beach, Porbandar, highlighted coordinated logistics and rapid response to a simulated cyclone disaster, with multiple agencies such as the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, NDRF, and local forces involved.
  • The demonstration included search and rescue operations, casualty evacuation, and the resuscitation and rehabilitation of affected citizens, showcasing the collaborative approach to disaster management.
  • An Industrial Display was organized as part of the exercise, promoting India’s self-reliance in disaster response technology in line with the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, with Indian defence industries showcasing their innovations.
