Madhya Pradesh Increases Women's Job Reservation to 35%
- 09 Nov 2024
In a recent decision, the Madhya Pradesh government has raised the reservation quota for women in all state government jobs from 33% to 35%, impacting various categories across the board.
- The proposal to increase women's reservation to 35% in government jobs was approved at a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.
- This enhanced reservation will apply to all reserved categories, including SC, ST, and OBC, ensuring that a greater percentage of positions in each category are allocated specifically to women candidates.
- Former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan originally announced the intent to raise the reservation to 35% before the last assembly elections; however, due to election timing, the approval was delayed.
- According to the official gazette notification, 35% of the reserved posts in each category will now be allocated to female candidates from the respective categories.
- The decision reflects Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to improving gender representation and supporting women in the state workforce by providing more government job opportunities.
