Rajesh Kumar Singh Takes Charge as Defence Secretary

In November, 2024, Rajesh Kumar Singh officially assumed the role of Defence Secretary at South Block, New Delhi, succeeding Shri Giridhar Aramane.
- A 1989-batch IAS officer from the Kerala cadre, Singh has a distinguished background in public service and governance.
- Before taking up the Defence Secretary role, Singh served as the Officer on Special Duty (Defence Secretary-designate) since August 20, 2024, positioning him well for this important position.
- Prior to this appointment, Singh held several significant positions, including Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, demonstrating his extensive experience in various government sectors.
