Rajesh Kumar Singh Takes Charge as Defence Secretary

In November, 2024, Rajesh Kumar Singh officially assumed the role of Defence Secretary at South Block, New Delhi, succeeding Shri Giridhar Aramane.

A 1989-batch IAS officer from the Kerala cadre, Singh has a distinguished background in public service and governance.
Before taking up the Defence Secretary role, Singh served as the Officer on Special Duty (Defence Secretary-designate) since August 20, 2024, positioning him well for this important position.
Prior to this appointment, Singh held several significant positions, including Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, demonstrating his extensive experience in various government sectors.
