Deepam 2.0 Scheme

On 1stNovember, 2024, the Andhra Pradesh government has launched the Deepam 2.0 scheme, providing three free LPG cylinders annually to eligible female citizens across the state.
- The Deepam 2.0 scheme is a continuation of the original Deepam initiative, targeting financially vulnerable women by covering the cost of three cooking gas cylinders per year, significantly easing household expenses for beneficiaries.
- The scheme, part of the government’s “super six” initiatives introduced ahead of state elections, is expected to benefit around 4 lakh female citizens across Andhra Pradesh.
- Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu launched the scheme by transferring INR 894 crore to gas suppliers Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, and Indian Oil Corporation for initial cylinder distribution.
- Eligible female citizens are encouraged to visit the official website, apply online, and confirm their status for receiving their annual allotment of gas cylinders, enabling them to save money on essential cooking fuel.
