In October 2024, India's Directorate of Enforcement (ED) joined the Steering Committee of the Asset Recovery Interagency Network-Asia Pacific (ARIN-AP), advancing its position in combating economic crimes across Asia-Pacific.

  • India’s inclusion in the ARIN-AP Steering Committee gives it a significant voice in strategic decisions and administrative operations aimed at enhancing asset recovery efforts regionally and globally.
  • The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) highlighted this development as an opportunity to strengthen India’s role in curbing economic crimes and promoting cross-border cooperation on asset recovery.
  • As part of its new responsibilities, India will host the ARIN-AP Annual General Meeting (AGM) in 2026, where it will assume the network’s presidency, further consolidating its leadership role.
  • ARIN-AP, part of the Global CARIN Network, comprises 28 member jurisdictions and nine observers, all dedicated to cooperation on asset tracing, freezing, and confiscation of crime-related proceeds.
  • The network functions through a structured contact-point system across over 100 jurisdictions, facilitating intelligence sharing among member agencies to speed up the identification and recovery of criminal assets.
