The Union Government is set to enhance the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) by adding Hydroponics, Aquaponics, Vertical Farming, and Precision Agriculture to its scope, promoting advanced cultivation methods across India.

- New Farming Techniques: With the inclusion of Hydroponics, Aquaponics, Vertical Farming, and Precision Agriculture, the MIDH aims to modernize horticulture practices and support a broader variety of crops including fruits, vegetables, spices, and more.
- Revised Operational Guidelines and Cost Norms: The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare is revising MIDH guidelines and cost norms, with a projected 20% increase in cost standards from those set in 2014. Updated guidelines are expected within a month.
- Approval from Union Cabinet: The Union Cabinet’s rationalization of CSS schemes led to preliminary approval for MIDH revisions, consolidating CSS under two main umbrellas—Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) and Krishonnati Yojana (KY).
