92nd Indian Air Force Day

The Indian Air Force (IAF) commemorated its 92nd anniversary on 8th October 2024, with a grand airshow and events at Marina Beach in Chennai.

  • The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Bharatiya Vayusena: Saksham, Sashakt aur Aatmnirbhar’ (Potent, Powerful, and Self-Reliant), highlighting the IAF’s dedication to modernization and self-reliance.
  • An airshow will take place between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Chennai, showcasing the IAF’s capabilities, with key dignitaries like Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin attending.
  • Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, the Chief of Air Staff, along with Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, will also be present at the event, celebrating the force’s rich legacy.
  • The IAF was established under British rule in 1932 and has since evolved into one of the world’s most powerful air forces, playing vital roles in military operations and humanitarian missions.
  • Indian Air Force Day also serves to inspire young Indians to pursue careers in the IAF, promoting recruitment and training across the nation.
