Amar Preet Singh Takes Charge as Air Chief Marshal

On 30th September 2024, Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Amar Preet Singh assumed the role of Chief of Air Staff, succeeding ACM V. R. Chaudhari, who retired after a distinguished three-year tenure.

  • ACM Amar Preet Singh is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, and National Defence College, with a notable career spanning decades in the Indian Air Force (IAF).
  • Commissioned into the Fighter Stream of the IAF on December 21, 1984, he is a highly experienced pilot with over 5,000 flying hours on various fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.
  • ACM Singh commanded an operational fighter squadron and led a frontline air base, displaying leadership in both combat and administrative roles.
  • ACM Singh played a pivotal role as Project Director (Flight Test) at the National Flight Test Centre, managing the flight testing of the Light Combat Aircraft (Tejas), a key defense project for India.
  • Prior to his new appointment, he served as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief at Central Air Command and as Vice Chief of Air Staff, a position he assumed on February 1, 2023.
