On 22nd September, 2024, India made history as both the men’s and women’s teams won their first-ever gold medals at the 45th Chess Olympiad, securing decisive victories in the final round.

• The Indian men’s team defeated Slovenia 3-0 in the 11th round, with standout performances from D Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, and R Praggnanadhaa.
• The men’s team finished the tournament with 21 points out of a possible 22, conceding only a single 2-2 draw against Uzbekistan and winning all other matches.
• The Indian women’s team triumphed 3.5-0.5 against Azerbaijan in the final round, with D Harika, Divya Deshmukh, and Vantika Agrawal delivering decisive wins.
