Global Food Regulators Summit

On 19th-21st September, 2024, India will host the second edition of the Global Food Regulators Summit in New Delhi, bringing together delegates from over 70 countries to discuss key food safety and regulatory issues.
- The summit is organized by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the guidance of the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry.

- Over 5,000 people are anticipated to attend the summit in person, with an additional 1.5 lakh individuals joining the sessions virtually.
- A key highlight of the event will be the launch of a new 'Food Import Rejection Alert' portal, designed to track and prevent rejected food imports from entering the domestic market.
- FSSAI will also introduce a new and improved food import clearance system, Food Import Clearance System 2.0, which aims to streamline procedures and enhance safety regulations for imported food items.
- Another significant development at the summit will be the unveiling of the State Food Safety Index 2024, which evaluates the food safety performance of various Indian States and Union Territories.
