‘Rangeen Machhli’ App

On 12th September, 2024, Union Minister launched the "Rangeen Machhli" mobile app to support India's ornamental fisheries sector, at an event in Bhubaneswar.

  • The app, developed by ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA) with backing from Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), aims to meet the needs of hobbyists, aquarium shop owners, and fish farmers.
  • The "Rangeen Machhli" app provides information on popular ornamental fish species in eight Indian languages, making it accessible to a broader audience, including hobbyists and farmers.
  • One of the app’s standout features is a tool that allows users to locate nearby aquarium shops, promoting local businesses by connecting users with reliable sources for ornamental fish and related products.
  • The app includes educational modules for both beginners and professionals, offering guidance on fish care, breeding, maintenance, and aquaculture practices.
