Anish Dayal Singh Appointed as NCB Chief

On 5th Sept 2024, CRPF Director General Anish Dayal Singh was assigned the additional role of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) chief following the retirement of S N Pradhan.

  • Anish Dayal Singh, the current DG of CRPF, will hold the additional charge of the NCB director general for three months or until a permanent appointment is made.
  • S N Pradhan, an IPS officer of the 1988 Jharkhand cadre, retired from service on August 31, prompting the appointment of Singh.
  • Singh, who has led various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) including the SSB, ITBP, CISF, NSG, and CRPF, is set to retire on December 31.
  • The NCB is the federal agency tasked with combating drug trafficking and abuse across India.
  • Singh’s extensive experience with CAPFs is expected to bolster the NCB’s efforts in addressing narcotics challenges.
