Maria Branyas

Maria Branyas, recognized as the world's oldest person, passed away at 117 years old in her Spanish nursing home, as confirmed by her official X account and Guinness World Records.

Born in San Francisco in 1907 and later moving to Spain, Branyas lived through significant historical events including the 1918 flu pandemic, both World Wars, and Spain’s civil war.
Branyas spent her later years in Catalonia, marrying doctor Joan Moret in 1931 and raising three children, with whom she had 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She outlived her husband, who died in 1976, and her son August, who died in a tractor accident at age 86.
