Amravati: New Capital of Andhra Pradesh

On June 12tth , 2024, after swearing-in as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu confirmed that Amaravati will be the state capital.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu floated the idea of Amaravati as the capital city when he became Chief Minister of bifurcated Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
It the ancient city and was the capital of the Satavahana dynasty.
It is located on the right bank of the river Krishna in Guntur district.
Naidu's brainchild Amaravati suffered a setback in 2019 when TDP lost power and YSRCP came to power.
