‘Yashobhoomi' to Host World Chess Championship

India is set to propose Delhi's India International Convention and Expo Centre, 'Yashobhoomi' in Dwarka, as the host for the World Chess Championship later in 2024, featuring reigning world champion Ding Liren and 18-year-old Indian challenger D. Gukesh.

- A No Objection Certificate (NOC) has been granted to the All India Chess Federation to host the match.
- May 31st is the last date for bid submission to the international chess federation, Fide.
- Inaugurated in 2023, ‘Yashobhoomi’ is among the world’s largest MICE (meetings, incentives, conference and exhibitions) facilities.
- The event is scheduled to be held between 20th November 2024 and 15th December 2024.
- India has hosted the World Chess Championship once before, in 2013.
