Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura, and Kalapani

On 3rd May 2024, Nepal announced the issuance of a new Rs 100 currency note featuring a map including Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura, and Kalapani, disputed territories with India, drawing criticism from India over what it terms as "artificial enlargement."
- The move to update the currency notes follows the decision to redesign the banknote taken in cabinet meetings held on April 25 and May 2.
- In June 2020, Nepal updated its political map, incorporating Lipulekh, Kalapani, and Limpiyadhura, triggering a sharp reaction from India, which maintains these areas belong to it.
- The territorial dispute further strains India-Nepal relations, with India expressing concerns over Nepal's unilateral actions.
- Nepal shares a border of over 1,850 km with five Indian states, including Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
