Core Loading at India's First Indigenous Fast Breeder Reactor

On 4th March, PM witnessed the commencement of "Core Loading" at India's first indigenous Fast Breeder Reactor in Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu.
- The Fast Breeder Reactor (FBR) is a key milestone in India's three-stage nuclear program.
- India's indigenous efforts in nuclear technology include the creation of Bhartiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Ltd (BHAVINI) to construct and operate the Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR).
- PFBR is fully designed and constructed indigenously by BHAVINI with contributions from over 200 Indian industries, including MSMEs.
- PFBR is a stepping stone towards utilizing India's abundant thorium reserves and advancing the country's energy security and sustainable development goals.
