Core Loading at India's First Indigenous Fast Breeder Reactor

On 4th March, PM witnessed the commencement of "Core Loading" at India's first indigenous Fast Breeder Reactor in Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu.

The Fast Breeder Reactor (FBR) is a key milestone in India's three-stage nuclear program.
India's indigenous efforts in nuclear technology include the creation of Bhartiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Ltd (BHAVINI) to construct and operate the Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR).
PFBR is fully designed and constructed indigenously by BHAVINI with contributions from over 200 Indian industries, including MSMEs.
PFBR is a stepping stone towards utilizing India's abundant thorium reserves and advancing the country's energy security and sustainable development goals.
