Cabinet Approves Three Semiconductor Units

On 29th February, Union Cabinet approved establishment of three semiconductor units, marking significant progress for India's Semiconductor Mission.
- Programme aims to develop semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystems in India with an outlay of Rs. 76,000 crore.
- Construction to commence within next 100 days.
- Approved units include a semiconductor fab, ATMP units in Gujarat and Assam, and specialized chip unit in Gujarat.
- Tata Electronics, Tata Semiconductor Assembly and Test, and CG Power among key players partnering in the initiative.
- Investments totalling Rs. 125,600 crore expected, fostering advanced technology and job creation.
- Strategic importance highlighted, emphasizing establishment of semiconductor ecosystem in India.
- Estimated direct employment in 20,000 advanced technology jobs and 60,000 indirect jobs expected.
