National Commission for Religious and Linguistic Minorities

The Commission headed by Justice Ranganath Misra was setup in 2004 to look into various issues related to linguistic and religious minorities in India. It submitted its report in 2007.

Important Recommendations: 10% reservation for Muslims and 5% for other minorities in government jobs and seats in educational institutions.

  • Reserving 8.4% out of 27% (existing quota of OBCs) for minorities.
  • Schedule Caste reservations for Dalit Converts.
