Several tribal groups in Tripura have joined hands to push their demand for a separate state, Greater Tipraland for indigenous communities in the region.
The demand for a separate state is due to following reasons-
Indigenous communities have been reduced to a minority.
Ethnic conflict and insurgency
Indigenous people have been dislodged from land reserved for them
