UNCCD Meeting Held at Delhi
- The 14th meeting of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP 14) was held in New Delhi recently.
- The UNCCD meeting takes place every two years. A Framework for the Assessment of Benefits of Action/Cost of Inaction for Drought Preparedness report was releasedat the COP.
- The UNCCD is one of three Conventions that have come out of the historic 1992 EarthSummit in Rio de Janeiro.
- Established in 1994, the UNCCD is the sole legally binding international agreement linking environment and development to sustainable land management.
- The UNCCD has not yet resulted in any international treaty ....
