- NITI Aayog at Circular Economy Symposium 2019, stressed on circular economy as a concept to generate employment in the country.
- The circular economy is a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible. In this way, the life cycle of products is extended.
- It functions on ‘5R’ principles – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Re-manufacture and Repair or Refurbish.
- Circular economy has the potential to generate 1.4 crore jobs in India in the next 5-7 years.
