Bru Settlement
- In January 2020, an Agreement was signed between State of Mizoram and Tripura in the presence of Ministry of Home Affairs to repatriate Bru-Reang tribes in Tripura.
- The agreement states that 34000 Bru refugees will be settled in Tripura and Centre will provide 600 crores to help the overall development of the tribes.These tribes would be entitled to benefits under state/central welfare schemes as the normal citizens of the state. Additionally, other benefits like – 40*30 ft. residential plot, Rs 5000 per month per family as aid for 2 years, free ration for 2 years etc. will also be provided.
