Objectives
- To enhance the edible oilseeds production and oils availability in the country by harnessing Oil Palm area expansion, increasing current palm oil production.
- To reduce import burden on edible oils.
- Target Groups: Oilseeds cultivators
Key Features/Guidelines
- It is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
- It is proposed to have an additional 6.5 lakh hectares for palm oil by 2025-26.
- NMEO-OP will subsume the current National Food Security Mission-Oil palm programme.
