Darjeeling Zoo Begins DNA Preservation of Wildlife

  • Recently, India’s Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park in Darjeeling became the first zoo in the country to preserve DNA samples of wildlife found in snowy regions for future conservation and research.
  • The DNA samples include tissues from species such as red pandas and snow leopards, collected from animals that died due to road accidents or in captivity.
