Anti-dumping Duties on Chinese Goods

  • On 23rd March 2025, India imposed anti-dumping duty on five Chinese goods, including vacuum flasks and aluminium foil to protect domestic players from cheap imports from the neighbouring country.
  • WTO defines anti-dumping duties as tariffs imposed by a domestic government on foreign imports that are priced below fair market value, a practice known as “dumping.”
  • Its objective is to prevent unfair competition, protect domestic industries, and ensure fair trade practices by discouraging predatory pricing.
