Sujalam 2.0 Campaign
On the occasion of the World Water Day (22 March, 2022), the Ministry of Jal Shakti launched the Sujalam 2.0 campaign for greywater management.
Aim
- To sustain the achievement made under the Swachh Bharat Mission – Gramin (SBM-G) Phase I.
- Ensure holistic cleanliness in villages by having arrangements for solid and liquid waste management.
Need
- More than 70 per cent of freshwater across rural households in India gets converted to greywater.
- In rural areas, greywater is often let into storm water drains, which is discharged into the surroundings. This poses environmental and public health risks.
