Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)
- CITES also known as the Washington Convention, is an international agreement between governments which entered into force on 1st July 1975 with its headquarters at Geneva, Switzerland.
- Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten the survival of the species.
- The 18th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to CITES (CoP18) took place from 17 - 28 August 2019, in Geneva, Switzerland.
- CoP19 will be held in 2022 in Costa Rica.
