National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Eco-System

In February 2013, considering the need for acommon approach to the conservation and management of wetlands and urban and peri-urban lakes, the Union Cabinet decided to merge the two schemes-National Lake Conservation Plan and the National Wetlands Conservation Programme,into a unified scheme entitled'National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Ecosystems' (NPCA) to enable the application of uniform policy and guidelines and promote anintegrated and multi-disciplinary approach with acommon regulatory framework.
