National Broadband Mission 2.0
On 17th January 2025, the Union government launched the National Broadband Mission (NBM) 2.0.
- It is aimed at expanding high-speed broadband access across rural India, ensuring digital inclusion, and driving the nation’s digital transformation.
Salient Features
- Expansion of Connectivity to Rural Areas: NBM 2.0 seeks to extend broadband connectivity to 2.70 lakh villages by 2030, significantly improving internet access in underserved areas.
- Mission Target: The mission targets increasing rural internet subscribers from 45 to 60 per 100 population by 2030, narrowing the digital divide between urban and rural India.
