Growing Global Trust in Supersonic Multi-Role Fighter Jet Tejas
- India has taken a significant step towards self-reliance in defense aviation with the successful flight of the first Tejas MK1A variant (LA5033) from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) airport in Bengaluru in the presence of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
- The Tejas MK1A fighter jet successfully flew in the Bengaluru skies for about 18 minutes before making a safe landing.
- The production of Tejas-2, an advanced 4.5-generation fighter jet, is expected to begin between 2028 and 2030.
- While Tejas MK1A is primarily designed for air defense, the medium-weight MK-2 fighter will be equipped with heavy weaponry for offensive operations in enemy territory.
