Chameleon Trojan

  • A new version of the Chameleon Trojan malware has emerged, capable of disabling biometric authentication, such as fingerprint and face unlock, to steal phone PINs.
  • The malware attaches itself to legitimate Android apps, like Google Chrome, to evade detection, operating in the background. It leverages undetectable bundles during runtime, bypassing Google Protect alerts and security software.
  • On Android 12 and earlier versions, Chameleon Trojan exploits the Accessibility service, while on newer OS versions, it presents an HTML page instructing users to enable the service, overcoming security restrictions.
