Government Pays Tributes to Tamil Poet Thiruvalluvar
On 15th January, 2022, Prime Minister paid tributes to the Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar on Thiruvalluvar Day.
Thiruvalluvar
- Also known as Valluvar, he was born in Madurai, the capital of the Pandyas.
- The word ‘Thiruvalluvar’, means ‘the devotee of the Valluva caste’.
- He is regarded as an Avatara of Brahma.
- His wife Vasuki was a chaste and devoted lady.
- He earned a living by weaving cloth and selling it.
- He is known for his famous work "Thirukkural", which is considered as a very important text in Tamil literature.
- He was chosen as the greatest historical figure in the Tamil language by Tamil scholars unanimously.
