Japan and China Express Concern Over India’s Laptop Import Licensing Measure
On 21st May, 2024, Japan and China formally expressed concern over India’s laptop import licensing measure during a meeting of the World Trade Organization’s Committee on Import Licensing.
- The measure, announced in August last year but swiftly reversed, attracted international attention, including from the United States.

- The WTO licensing committee convened to discuss ways to enhance transparency in import licensing regimes and promote the use of the WTO’s Import Licensing Notification Portal.
