​Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics 2024

On 26th November, 2024, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying released the Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics (BAHS)-2024.

Key Points

Milk Production

  • Global Rank: India leads the world in milk production.
  • Top Five Milk Producing States: Uttar Pradesh (16.21 %), Rajasthan (14.51 %), Madhya Pradesh (8.91 %), Gujarat (7.65 %), and Maharashtra (6.71 %).
  • Per-capita Availability of Milk: The per-capita availability of milk is 471 grams per day.
  • Annual Growth Rate (AGR): The highest AGR recorded by West Bengal followed by Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Assam.

Egg Production

  • Global Rank: India ranks 2nd in egg production globally.
