Southern States Face Water Scarcity as Reservoir Levels Drop
According to a report released by the Central Water Commission (CWC) in the third week of November 2023, water levels in the reservoirs of southern Indian states are expected to further decline in the coming months.
- It raises concerns amid already low stocks this year, as recently the CWC monitors 42 reservoirs in southern states, collectively holding a capacity of 53.334 Billion Cubic Metres (BCM), with a recent drop from 25.609 BCM in September to 23.617 BCM in November.
