Harappan Period
The Indus Valley Civilization, which is thought to have begun around 3000 B.C., is regarded as India's first urbanisation.
- Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa were the two most significant cities of this civilization, and each was situated along a river, with Mohenjo-Daro on the Indus and Harappa on the Ravi.
- The establishment of settlements in the Indus zone was based on agricultural surplus, the production of bronze tools, several other crafts, and extensive trade and commerce. These two cities constituted the pinnacle of urban development in the first phase.
