Study of Distant Magnetar Gives Clues about Exotic Star
Recently, scientists found the first clues to understand violent short duration flares from a compact star of rare category called magnetar located thirteen million light years away.
- The magnetar is located in the direction of the NGC 253, a prominent galaxy in the Sculptor group of galaxies.
- The present magnetar is only the second one to be studied which is located outside the Milky Way galaxy and is also the furthest.
