Western Disturbance and Erratic Rainfall
Phenomena
- In the winter, a high-pressure system forms in the areas surrounding Ukraine, bringing together relatively warm and wet air from lower/temperate latitudes and the cold air from Polar Regions.
- Westerlies typically include the warm air mass, which brings a lot of moisture. A front form when two air masses with disparate temperatures collide.
- In places affected by the frontal activity, the formation of a front causes the formation of clouds and severe rainfall.
- In the high atmosphere, this causes the development of temperate cyclones. These cyclones interact with the subtropical westerly jet stream at such altitudes, which moves them eastward.
