ISRO Develops Indigenous 10-Ton Vertical Mixer
On 13th February 2025, India strengthened its self-reliance in space technology with the successful development of the world’s largest 10-ton Vertical Planetary Mixer for solid propellant production.
- The mixer was handed over to Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR (SDSC SHAR) in Bengaluru, marking a major step in the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
What do Vertical Mixers do?
Solid propellants are the backbone of rocket motors, and their production requires precise mixing of highly sensitive and hazardous ingredients (fuel and oxidizers). This mixing is done by the Vertical Mixers.
