Answer: The Civil Disobedience Movement was a continuation of the non-cooperation movement based on Gandhian principles. It was proposed at the Congress session in Lahore in December 1929.
Beginning of the Movement
- On 12th March 1930, Gandhiji began his famous Dandi March from Sabarmati to Dandi and, on 6th April 1930, he violated the salt laws, marking the beginning of the movement.
- The violation of the salt law symbolized that the people of India no longer wanted to be governed by laws imposed by the British government.
- The movement in Bihar began on 6th April 1930.
